SEBASTOPOL (KCBS Radio) -- Officials are bracing for the possibility that the main gathering spot in this community of 8,000 people may be a long-term casualty of this week's atmospheric river storm and the subsequent flooding.

The 4,600 square foot Sebastopol Community Cultural Center hosts a broad variety of events and classes as well as City Council meetings. "It's our biggest room in town, it's where everyone gathers," said the facility's executive director, Cordelia Holst.

The building is owned by the City of Sebastopol and operated by a non-profit organization.

Inspecting the buidling on Friday, Holst noted "a lot of wrecked sheetrock, wood paneling that's got water damage," and more.
