HILLSBOROUGH — There's a rare chance for architect buffs this month to see the homes in California designed by the late great Frank Lloyd Wright.

The Bazett-Frank House in Hillsborough welcomed visitors on Saturday. It's known for containing the so-called "Mummy Room," the smallest bedroom ever made by Wright.

"It's an opportunity just walking through it and sensing the complexity of the spaces," said Paul Turner, a retired Stanford University professor of architecture history. "It's very sensual architecture."

The Hillsborough home is one of five private Wright-designed homes that are opening for tours in the Bay Area and Southern California in July.

The Frank Lloyd Wright Revival Initiative organized the visits.

The last two homes in the program are the Maynard Buehler House in Orinda, which will be visited on July 27, and the Robert Berger House in San Anselmo on July 28. The latter includes the only known doghouse designed by Wright. For more information, click here.
