San Jose Gears Up For Weekend Of Events Before College Football Championship

Downtown San Jose has been transformed into a championship campus for college football title game on Monday between Alabama and Clemson.

The actual college football playoff national championship will be played in Levi's Stadium on Monday, but there's a weekend full of events and activities.


The Plaza de Cesar Chavez is now "The Quad," featuring ESPN broadcasts and music;

Free concerts are also being held at nearby Discovery Meadow. while the San Jose McEnery Convention Center will host Playoff Fan Central, which also offers complimentary admission.  

But not everything is gratis. The Taste of the Championship at the Tech Museum featuring 20 Bay Area chefs is $150 a ticket. 

You can burn off some of those calories with the Extra Yard for Teachers 5K run on Sunday morning.
