
According to police, the man used the car to ram a patrol vehicle, hitting one of the officers, who was then dragged several feet and pinned against another car.
All three officers on the scene opened fire at the suspect. He was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead.
Resident Mark Wagra told KPIX-5 that it's not unusual to hear gunfire in the area. "We hear a lot of things in this neighborhood. I think three years ago we had a drive-by to this building," he said.
Neighbor Jan Hargett told the station enough is enough.
"It's hard, it happens here all the time," she said. "You know, shootings ... all the gang members are getting out of jail. It's horrible. I'm trying to save money and get out of here."
