SAN FRANCISCO — Drivers trying to pay San Francisco parking tickets or reload their FasTrak pass have been experiencing headaches with the online system for days.

The third-party system has been down since Saturday, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission and there's no estimate for when the electronic service will be restored.

With drivers venting on social media about the technical difficulties, the SFMTA has been directing them to mail in their payments or challenges to citations or show up at their customer service office on Van Ness Avenue.

The third-party processing system has been down since Saturday morning and we currently don't have an ETA on resolution. Our staff recommends mailing in payment/contest forms OR dropping them off in person at 11 South Van Ness. (1...)

"This does have a significant impact and we're working with the vendor to find a solution as soon as possible," said Paul Rose, a spokesman for the SFMTA.

Any late fees that may occur due to the glitch will be waived, the SFMTA said.

The problem extended to FasTrak's telephone customer service line.

"Our systems are currently experiencing service interruptions," a FasTrak message on Facebook said. "We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience."
