SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) The CEO is theatre company SHN Greg Holland says the 2019-2020 season starts in December.

"There is a 5 show subscription this season and it starts this December with Summer: The Donna Summer Musical, which was on Broadway this season. It’s followed by Sting's The Last Ship, starring Sting," Holland tells KCBS Radio’s Bob Butler.

Sting was born in Wallsend, Northumberland, England, along the North Sea.  His father and grandfather were shipbuilders.

As a small child, I would turn left out of my front door and see more often than not, the bows of a giant ship towering over the roof of the house and blocking the end of the street entirely," Sting said.

Sting wrote and produced the music for the play including a haunting tune about a shipyard shutting down.

Sting in The Last Ship arrives at the SHN Golden Gate Theatre on February 20 through March 22, 2020.
