San Francisco officials are unhappy that they were not notified that one of Skip's e-scooters caught fire in a Bayview warehouse in December.
The revelation about the burned scooter, first reported by the San Francisco Examiner, comes after Skip had briefly removed its entire fleet of scooters from city streets over the weekend. The company took the precaution because one of their devices caught fire in Washington, D.C.
In the small Bayview fire, Skip's employees evacuated the facility although the damage was contained to just one scooter.
Firefighters didn't find anything suspicious, so they investigators did not look to discover what sparked it.
Still, San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency Director Ed Reiskin said it was "troubling" that his department, which regulates e-scooters, wasn't informed of the fire, the Examiner reported. Supervisor Shamann Walton, who represents Bayview residents, reportedly said he'll question Skip about the incident.
