Burning Man cancelled for 2021, will host virtual festival instead

After debating whether, or not to require attendees be vaccinated ahead of the scheduled August 2021 festival in the Nevada desert, Burning Man organizers called off the festival altogether on Tuesday.

"We are still in the pandemic, and the uncertainties that need to be resolved are impossible to do so in the time we have." The festival said in a post, announcing the focus will shift on returning to Black Rock City in 2022. CEO Marian Goodell added that, “It’s too important to do half-assed. So we’re doubling down on next year.”

Another virtual edition of the festival will be held online August 21 - September 5, 2021.
