One person died and another was badly injured Thursday when a gun – intended to be a prop – fired at crew members on the set of a film in New Mexico starring Alec Baldwin.
Deputies from the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed two people had been shot during a scene where actors were supposed to use a prop weapon.

One of the shooting victims, a 42-year-old female crew member, died from her injuries Thursday afternoon. First responders rushed a second crew member, identified as a 42-year-old man, to the hospital, where he remained Thursday night.
The Western movie – entitled "Rust" – stars the "30 Rock" alumnus alongside Jensen Ackles. The film is shooting at the Bonanza Creek Ranch, which served as the set for "Cowboys & Aliens."
"There was an accident today on the New Mexico set of Rust involving the misfire of a prop gun with blanks," a movie producer told ABC News in a statement, noting production had paused for now. "The safety of our cast and crew remains our top priority."
Baldwin, co-producing the film, posted a picture to social media from the movie set early Thursday.
The actor was on set when someone fired the supposed prop gun, TMZ reported, which could have been loaded incorrectly.
The sheriff’s office said it would continue to investigate.
