NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Comedian and former SNL writer John Mulaney checked into a rehab facility for alcohol and cocaine addiction over the weekend, according to a report.
A source told the New York Post Mulaney is staying at a 60-day rehab facility in Pennsylvania, adding that his “friends and family are happy that he’s finally getting some help and focusing on his health.”
“His fans know he’s struggled in the past with sobriety. He’s talked about it openly,” the source told the outlet. “Unfortunately, he has struggled again during the pandemic.”
“He’s on board with his recovery,” the source added. “He’s not fighting against rehab.”
Mulaney has spoken about his past struggles with alcohol and drugs in interviews and standup routines.
In a 2019 interview with Esquire, the comedian said he gave up alcohol and cocaine at age 23, after going on a “bender… that was just, like, fading in and out of a movie.”
“I didn’t kill or assault anyone. But yeah, I was like, ‘You’re… f---ing out of control,’” he said. “And I thought to myself, ‘I don’t like this guy anymore. I’m not rooting for him.’”
1010 WINS has reached out to Mulaney’s representatives for comment.
