Police say that the explosion, which happened around 7PM, was actually a family hosting a gender reveal party with explosives.
Residents find it hard to believe because they have never heard anything like this before. Sara Taglieri and her husband Matt live near the Torromeo quarry. “We heard this god-awful blast. It knocked pictures off our walls,” Sara said.
The explosion actually shook houses and businesses across the Kingston area, and a doorbell camera in another nearby town was able to capture the action.
Lots of residents actually believed it was an earthquake, but meteorologists say there were no earthquakes in the area around that time. Police were able to verify that it had been explosives at a gender reveal party, and residents could barely believe it.
“Are you kidding me? I’m all up for silliness and what not, but that was extreme,” Matt Taglieri said. “It cracked foundations of our neighbors', I don’t know how that’s right.”
