Pat Thurston has been a major player in Bay Area radio since the OJ Simpson trial when she handed the “play by play” of the trial itself, had legal punditry give insights and engaged with listeners reacting to evidence. Once the trial ended, she was a mainstay on KPIX-FM in San Francisco, the first FM talker in the city.
When KPIX was acquired by Clear Channel, that company changed the format to music and Pat moved to KSRO in Santa Rosa. She was thrilled with the local focus of talk radio there. Issues she was involved with made a difference to the community and to people’s lives.
Pat left KSRO after becoming pregnant with triplets. For a while after her babies were born she broadcast from her home but ultimately decided to take a few years off to be with them in their most formative years.
Ultimately Pat balanced work and family by hosting a talk show on KGO Radio in San Francisco - first on weekends and then mid-days. She established a reputation as a fierce voice for the disenfranchised, a seeker of justice and an ally to truth.
Pat Thurston is delighted to be a part of the highly rated, KCBS All News Radio family to bring truth via news anchoring and insights via news interviews to our listeners.
Pat is a veteran of the United States Army, once worked for the United States Secret Service and lives in Marin County. Those triplets are all now in college.
