Two police officers and another driver were injured early Thursday morning after a San Francisco police pursuit ended in a spectacular crash in the city’s Lower Haight neighborhood.
It started at about 3:30 a.m. when a police officer tried to make a traffic stop at the intersection of Castro and Market Streets.
The driver of the blue Honda Accord sped off, starting a chase that ended less than a mile away when a second SFPD car crashed into the Accord and sent the car careening into a home at Waller and Fillmore Streets.
The driver of the Honda was seriously hurt and needed to be extricated from the car. The two officers in the police SUV suffered injuries that are not life-threatening.
The home was seriously damaged.
At some point, an N-Judah MUNI bus with passengers on board was also involved in the crash although the details were not immediately available. The bus sustained only minor damage to the bumper.
It is not clear at this point why police attempted to stop the car or why the driver sped off. An investigation is underway.
