3 arrested in connection to armed robbery in Danville Trader Joe's parking lot

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – Danville police arrested two minors and an 18-year-old in connection with an armed robbery in a Trader Joe's parking lot on Friday.

Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery taking place at 4:36 p.m. in the Trader Joe's parking lot on Railroad Avenue, according to a post by the department on Facebook.

Two of the suspects held up the victim at gunpoint when he was trying to get out of his car.

The third suspect was waiting in a nearby car, which the first two suspects got into and fled in after taking the victim’s personal property. According to reporting by KTVU, they made off with a Rolex watch worth $40,000.

No one was injured in the incident.

A massive search ensued, with Danville police along with a helicopter provided by the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office. Other law enforcement agencies were also notified.

The getaway car was found in Antioch, and all 3 of the suspects were arrested.

One suspect, 18-year-old Leon Fountain of San Jose, has been booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on charges that include armed robbery, conspiracy, participating in a criminal street gang, and several weapons violations. His bail is set at $380,000.

The other two involved in the robbery are underage and have not been identified.
