3 separate house fires embattle San Jose firefighters, displace residents

San Jose firefighters had a busy shift, tackling three different fires through Thursday night and into Friday morning, according to reporting by KTVU.

On Friday morning, the latest fire broke out at 6:30 a.m. at Robert F. Kennedy Elementary School in the 1500 block of Lucretia Avenue. Crews were able to extinguish the flames quickly, and no one was injured, according to the San Jose Fire Department Twitter page.

The cause has yet to be determined, but the fire started outside and made its way inside the administration building. A person has been detained for questioning.

The second fire started earlier that same morning at 1:50 a.m. at a residence in the 500 block of Park Johnson Place. The fire quickly expanded to a neighboring residence, as reported by KTVU.

Eight people were displaced in that fire.

The first fire was a three-alarm that ignited Thursday night just before 11 p.m. in the 200 block of Eastside Drive.

What was initially a single-family residence caught on fire spread to neighboring properties, resulting in damage to four homes that shared a common space behind their properties. One home was severely damaged, storage sheds were destroyed and there was additional minor damage to the other properties.

Crews were able to get the fire under control by 12:20 a.m. Friday morning, the cause has yet to be determined.

No one was injured. Five people were displaced, four adults and one child.
