Eight families in Oakland have been displaced after a large eucalyptus tree fell on their apartment building Wednesday night.

This is just one of more than 200 emergencies reported to the city of Oakland following the storm. As of Thursday, only about 40 of those emergencies had been cleared.
"Everything just shook," said Victoria James, one of the residents of the building just off Coolidge Avenue. "Like it was an earthquake. The whole complex shook."

Things went black, and she gathered her kids in the hallway in case of a possible aftershock. But then she heard her neighbor yelling, so she looked out to find a tree had landed against her building.
She rushed to get out, scared that debris that was still falling would trap her and her family inside.
"So we just ran out with what we had on and left," she said. In the meantime, she and her family have been relocated to a motel.
City officials have since been in to take photographs and document the damage. So far, James has not been able to access her unit to get any of her personal belongings.
Crews are still working to figure out how to get the tree off of the building. There have been more than 80 reports of fallen trees or branches following this storm.
