As restrictions ease with San Francisco’s entrance into the State’s yellow tier, the beloved nightlife attraction at the California Academy of Sciences will also make a return.
The team at the Academy, which is located in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, has continued to run live programs on Thursday nights during the pandemic, but is now gearing up to finally welcome guests back for in-person events.
“It feels great, it’s exciting, (but we’re) a little anxious,” said Jackie Zappala, senior Nightlife business manager. “We’re just really excited to get the doors open, and to be a place where guests can come and have fun and explore at their own comfort levels.”
Zappala said the Academy team has taken the reopening process slow, and watched how the process unfolded with daytime openings before inviting guests back after dark.
“They can check out our new Venom exhibit in the aquarium,” she said. “We’ll have our new BigPicture photography in the piazza. We’ll also have DJs, really fun ambiance lighting and outdoor bars in our west garden for guests to enjoy seasonal offerings and craft cocktails.”
Capacity for the nightlife events will initially remain at 20 percent. Tickets can be reserved on the Academy’s website.
