Starting on April 1st the Alameda County Fairgrounds COVID-19 testing site will close in order to consolidate with another site in Livermore.
The site opened last April and has tested over 35,000 people, with lines often stretching for blocks.

Now, as vaccines become more widely available, demand for tests has decreased significantly. The site went from testing up to 200 people a day at its peak to seeing as few as 35.
The site is operated by Stanford Healthcare Valleycare. COO Tracey Lewis Taylor told KCBS Radio that closing down the fairgrounds site allowed them to "redeploy the existing resources and utilize that team in efforts to vaccinate our community."
The Livermore site also has longer hours during the week, and is open on Saturdays. Patients can be tested with or without a referral from a doctor and appointments are preferred.
