After two years away due to COVID-19, the annual 4/20 celebration at San Francisco's Hippie Hill that attracts thousands appears ready to return this year.
Festival organizers announced earlier this week on Instagram that the cannabis celebration will return to Golden Gate Park on April 20 for the first time since 2019. Organizers skipped 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Back in the early days of the pandemic, San Francisco Mayor London Breed publicly urged people to not attempt to congregate at Hippie Hill, which was fenced off and guarded.
It's unclear what safety measures will be in place this year, but in 2017 the celebration became a city-sanctioned event with fences, security an an age restriction.
Vendor info for this year's event will be released closer to April.
