San Francisco Police have arrested a man and are looking for other suspects in connection with the startling robbery of a KPIX-5 reporter at Twin Peaks last week.
Ronald Whitten, 34, of San Francisco was booked at the San Francisco County Jail for possession of stolen property. Police said Tuesday a TV camera taken during the robbery was found during the arrest and seized by officers.
The incident happened just after 12:30 p.m. last Wednesday at Twin Peaks Blvd. and Burnett Ave. as KPIX-5 Reporter Don Ford was shooting a story on a rise in car break-ins in the popular tourist area. According to Supervisor Rafael Mandelman, a white luxury sedan with four men pulled up as Ford was about to do an interview.
Three of them jumped out and demanded his TV camera.
He wasn’t hurt, but the alleged thieves took off with his equipment.
The incident remains under investigation.
