From blue to red to green to fuchsia to rainbow, light sculptures that look something like galactic trees and bushes change color in Golden Gate Park’s Peacock Meadow.
The art installation “Entwined” comes to life at night.

“It’s this forest of sculptural trees comprised of 2000 LED lights, they’re light-illuminated canopies. Some are as large as 30 feet,” said San Francisco Recreation and Park General Manager Phil Ginsburg.
The installation lit up the park for the first time on Dec. 10 and will light the meadow through the end of February.
“The exhibit was intended to be part of our Golden Gate Park 150th anniversary and to inject a little light into the dark winter and this cruddy year,” said Ginsburg. “We want people to smile, to feel some joy as we close the year on a books that I think we all want to wish good riddance.”
Marissa was there on the first night and said it definitely made her smile.
“Really feel fortunate to live in San Francisco right now and I think that the piece represents that. It creates a lot of visual diversity in the different levels… in a lovely way it parallels the trees that are all throughout the park.”
It was designed by local artist Charles Gadeken who has designed installations across the country.
