Starting Monday morning, there are more BART trains going to San Francisco from the East Bay.
BART added 26 additional trains on the yellow, green and red lines, which increased train frequency to every 4 to 15 minutes during commute hours, in part to prevent crowding.
BART plans to return to near pre-pandemic service on August 30.
“It will be nice to get to work faster and not wait so long,” BART rider Shirley Arnold told KCBS Radio.
She said it was becoming more difficult to socially distance on train cars and while this alleviates that problem, she still has other concerns about BART, including its cleanliness.
“It’s dirty, but it’s on time and very dependable,” Arnold said. “But I wish it wasn’t as dirty.”
BART isn't the only transit service increasing frequency today as the Capitol Corridor operated by Amtrak is also adding trains, going from 16 to 22 weekday trips that includes a return to pre-pandemic service levels between Oakland and San Jose.
