A smattering of Bay Area residents could feel shaking from a magnitude 6.2 earthquake epicentered more than five hours north of San Francisco, according to submissions to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The earthquake struck offshore about 45 miles from Eureka in Humboldt County, and Bay Area residents as far south as Los Gatos reported they felt weak shaking. Oakland, San Francisco and San Jose residents largely indicated weak shaking in reports submitted to the federal agency.

The National Weather Service said Monday afternoon no tsunami was expected following the earthquake.
The U.S. Geological Survey said there was a low likelihood of damage and casualties following the earthquake. Caroline Titus, a contributing editor to the Ferndale Enterprise, told KCBS Radio it was "definitely" an earthquake that caught local residents' attention but didn't do much more than cosmetic damage.
Ferndale police officials told Titus no injuries were reported.
