SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – The storm system impacting the Bay Area has brought heavy rain and winds to the region, causing flooding, toppling trees and downing powerlines.

Areas of the East Bay, South Bay and North Bay were issued a special weather statement by the National Weather Service Tuesday morning due to 40 miles per hour winds and hail. A flood advisory was also issued due to showers, but as of 1 p.m., the advisory was canceled.

"Flooded roadways are no joke. DO NOT try to drive through flooded roads. Cars can flood, stall, and float down river, resulting in a water rescue. Turn Around Don't Drown," NWS warned in a tweet.

In San Anselmo, the Corte Madera Creek was raging. It only took a few inches of rainfall on Mount Tam to create the fast-moving water. Coffee Roastery store owner Tim Mock began brushing pools of water away from his Fairfax business in the early hours of the morning.

The store, which straddles the creek, has been victim to major flooding dating back decades. "I bought the business back in '07. It flooded the year or year two before that, but ever since then we didn’t have any flooding down here, but I put up the gates a number of times," Mock told KCBS Radio. The flood gates are used to keep water from entering street level businesses.

Meanwhile, as cars splash through Mill Valley, 19-year-old Logan Ogner told KCBS Radio about his bad day. "The storm blew over my basketball hoop and it fell on my car and it busted out the window and I wasn't home so it got all filled with water, so we're buying plastic sheets to fix my window," he explained.

More rainy weather is predicted to come later this week into the weekend.
