Long-time Bay Area television news anchor Doug Moore has passed away, KNTV announced on Tuesday. He was 78.

"(Moore) died with his family by his side. Doug shared our news desk with Maggi Scura for nearly two decades," McSweeney said. "Doug was kind to everyone, from the station's general manager to interns. I worked with Doug for seven years here at KNTV. Heck of a nice guy, loved helping people behind the scenes. That's a fact. He was a trusted voice in delivering the news. Our news family is forever going to miss Doug Moore."

Moore moved to the Bay Area from Minneapolis in 1982, joining KNTV, then an ABC affiliate. He became a mainstay on the evening newscast for 18 years, anchoring the station's 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. broadcast.

He left KNTV, now an NBC affiliate, in 2000.
