"Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience," is a new exhibit at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center's South Hall and is expected to run till Nov. 14, The Mercury News reported.
The immersive art experience uses light, music, movement and enlarged images of 300-plus art pieces to capture viewers' attention and take them into the world of Van Gogh.
The San Jose exhibit is similar to the "Immersive Van Gogh" instillation in San Francisco that opened in March, but there are some important aspects that differentiate the two experiences.
The "Beyond Van Gogh" creative team wanted to prioritize the artist's work in perspective and tell a story. The first exhibit is focused on the history of Van Gogh and shows guests key turning points in his life that impacted his art.
"He wanted his art to mean something," art historian Fanny Curtat told the newspaper. "He wanted to have a goal. And his goal was to bring beauty."
The San Francisco exhibit and the new San Jose experience will have a similar massive open room that showcases Van Gogh's artworks projected across the walls, on the floor and other surfaces in the room. It is place where guests can feel a sense of escapism while being surrounded by vibrant art.
The exhibit is open Sunday through Thursday 10a.m.-10p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10a.m.-11p.m.
Tickets, which are $35 for adults and $25 for children, are available at the Van Gogh San Jose website.
