A bicyclist discovered a dead body while riding through Baylands Park on Tuesday, police said.
Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety officials said they located the body on an embankment alongside a small creek just south of the Sunnyvale Materials Recovery and Transfer Station trail, after receiving a call from the bicyclist at about 1:30 p.m.
The body was partially submerged and entangled in vegetation along the soft mud embankment. There were no footprints or other signs of human activity in the area, police wrote in a Nixle alert.
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner is investigating the cause and manner of death.
Officials said that due to decomposition, they have not been able to identify the body.
