Around 10:40 a.m. a blue big rig pulling a yellow John Deere excavator on a flatbed truck hit the top of the I-80 overpass, Officer David Arias of the CHP’s Oakland office confirmed to KCBS Radio. Instead of stopping the driver backed up and got on I-80 eastbound and drove off.

Based on the collision there may have been significant structural damages to the overpass, Berkeleyside reported. Caltrans reported to the scene to look at the damage.

No one was injured from the damage. The freeway is safe but authorities say to expect delays.
