A body that had washed ashore at Pedro Point in Pacifica was discovered on Thursday morning.
The San Francisco Chronicle reported police and officials with the North County Fire Authority responded at 8:45 a.m. Thursday to a report of a person who appeared to be deceased floating facedown in the water at the west end of Pedro Point.
Pacifica Police described the person as female who was wearing clothing, and "appeared to have been in the water for some time," the paper said.
Police do not have any reports of a missing person that match the description of the remains that were recovered on Thursday.
San Mateo County coroner’s officials are investigating with Pacifica Police’s Investigative Services Division.
