A woman was terrorized last weekend when burglars found her house after breaking into her car in San Francisco.
The victim, who chose to stay anonymous for privacy reasons, was parked at the Hilton Financial District Hotel garage on Kearny St. when thieves smashed the windows of her Mercedes Benz, cleaned out her glove compartment and stole her gate and garage openers, KPIX reported.

The burglars then drove to her home in the East Bay and opened her garage twice. They only left once they realized someone was home, the victim said to the station.

Car break-in victims may have previously felt that their vehicles were safer in parking garages than on city streets, but this may no longer be the case.
San Francisco data shows in the last 7 days there were 260 reported car break-ins, and in the last 30 days, the city has counted a total of 2,000, the station said.
KCBS Radio has reached out to the San Francisco Police Department regarding the incident, but have not yet heard back. The burglars are currently unidentified.
