A burned-out home in Walnut Creek sold, in cash, this week for about $150,000 more than the city's median sale price last month, according to the property’s realtor.

Melinda Byrne, who initially listed what remains of a 4-bedroom, 2-bathroom home at 254 Tamarisk Dr. for $850,000 earlier this month, told KTVU on Thursday the property sold for $1 million in cash.

July's median sale price in Walnut Creek was $846,500, according to Redfin.

Walnut Creek’s median home value is $1.1 million,  according to Zillow estimates.

"This one is ready to start fresh and build to suit your style preferences," Byrne wrote on the listing, which noted the home was "stripped to the studs on both floors."

"Opportunities like this are rare to make dramatic changes to a home and floor plan," she added in the post.

Byrne told KTVU the buyer fended off seven others, and she expects him to renovate the home before trying to sell it.

"It's very exciting," she told the outlet.
