Both cars caught fire, causing multiple lanes to be blocked off for hours that night.

The California Highway Patrol issued its first sig-alert around 9 p.m., the station reported, saying that a vehicle had caught fire on Interstate 80.

Several lanes were closed initially. Just before 10 p.m. two of the lanes were reopened, and then at around 10:30 p.m., three more lanes were reopened, leaving just one closed.

The alert was finally lifted just before 11 p.m., with all lanes open again.

The three suspects in the pursued vehicle were taken into custody. A person uninvolved with the crime suffered minor injuries.
