Officials told KCBS Radio a dog owner called the agency at about 12:50 p.m., seeking help after their dog fell down a cliff in Pillar Ridge.

Coastside Engine 44 gained access through a fire road at the end of Ocean Avenue to help rescue the pup. CAL FIRE said the cliff was about 150 feet down to the beach, and the dog was approximately 15 feet down.

A battalion chief and Coastside Engine 41 helped set up a rope-lowering system, with one rescuer attached. CAL FIRE confirmed that the rescue took about 20 minutes, and the puppy did not sustain any injuries from the fall.

In a tweet, CAL FIRE CZU reminded locals to keep their dogs leashed near cliffs.
