After a difficult few months, they're hopeful it will happen soon.

For those trying to get things back to normal after the recent storms, it hasn’t been easy, it’s been, "tiring, rough at times," said Joshua Whitby, the kitchen manager and co-owner of Zelda's on the Beach.

Zelda's is located right on the Capitola Esplanade, where work crews are helping restore the area back to normal.

They're targeting mid-April for their doors to reopen.

"They're looking much better," said Whitby. "I mean we're getting there – we got half of our electricals done in the kitchen."

"We're half-lit, the other half will be done by the end of this weekend," he said.

The chainlink fencing currently up will be down by the time most of the restaurants reopen by the middle of the month.

While others in the area haven’t suffered as much damage as the restaurants right by the oceanfront, the storms wreaked havoc on their businesses as well in other ways.

"A lot of people still think that the village is closed and business has been very slow," said Melissa Serriteno, owner of Caruso's Tuscan Cuisine.

Caruso's was able to reopen just a few weeks after the initial bout of January storms.

As for the area's residents, many are looking forward to their local haunts being open once again in a couple of weeks.
