According to the California Highway Patrol, a person has died after driving off a cliff on Highway 1 in Monterey County.

The fatal crash occurred Saturday afternoon at around 4:36 p.m. when a vehicle veered off State Route 1 near Gorda Mountain Road. A caller reported to CHP that the car went down a cliff.
The vehicle was found reportedly resting upside down hundreds of feet down the cliff. The scene of the crash is about 70 miles south of Monterey and seven miles north of Ragged Point.
No further details were given surrounding the incident.
