As authorities approached the vehicle, an individual shot at them before fleeing on foot when officers fired back.

During the chase for the initial subject, a second individual fired "multiple" rounds at officers. One of the responding officers sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound. No other information about the injured cop's condition was released.

Investigators were able to catch up to and arrest the initial shooter, who was uninjured.

The second suspect remains at large. Multiple agencies throughout Stanislaus County are actively searching for the individual.

Police ask anyone in the immediate area of the incident to stay indoors until the search is complete.
