A man and his six dogs were rescued from a boat grounded off Tomales Point early Tuesday, about a half mile north of Driftwood Beach, the U.S. Coast Guard confirmed.
A good Samaritan called the Coast Guard notifying them of the 30-foot boat grounded on the west side of Tomales Point.
When the Coast Guard arrived on scene they found a man aboard in distress.
The Marin County Fire Department used a personal watercraft to reach the man and safely transported him and his dogs to the Station Bodega Bay boat crew. The man and his dogs were taken to Bodega Bay where he was then transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital and treated for possible hypothermia.
A fuel sheen was seen near the boat during the rescue and it was reported that the boat had a maximum capacity of 200 gallons of diesel aboard.
A Coast Guard helicopter crew flew over the area Tuesday afternoon and reported the boat was in good condition with no reported sheen.
After a second flyover Wednesday morning, Global Diving and Salvage personnel were conducted to perform a vessel assessment and remove all petroleum products from the boat.
