SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – Be sure to bundle up Monday – the Bay Area is waking up to temperatures at or near freezing.

And things are looking to stay cold for the rest of the week. People might have to scrape some ice off their windshields Monday morning.

A frost advisory is in effect for the majority of the interior of the Bay Area.

"It's a little bit warmer in the city, staying in the mid-40s," said Matt Maley, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. "But once you get into the interior valleys, lows will bottom out into the lower to mid-30s today."

According to Maley, the cold snap will last several days with frost and freeze warnings for overnight.

Then, rain will be back in the forecast Thursday into Friday, although nothing like the storms of the previous month.

"Not a whole lot, this is definitely not a big atmospheric river like we saw earlier in the month," said Maley. "This is only going to produce a few hundredths, maybe a tenth at most."

But every little bit helps. California reservoirs still have room for more water despite the heavy rainfall recently.

Lake Oroville, a reservoir in Butte County, is only at 63% of its capacity right now. But the state snowpack at the moment is at 216% of its average for this time of year.
