After receiving reports of gunfire and people screaming, police responded to a "chaotic scene" at 33 Malicoat Ave. shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Saturday.

A family birthday gathering was underway when shots were fired, police said, reporting that everyone involved in the shooting "were known to each other."

Four people were found with gunshot wounds and were administered first aid, two of which, a 44-year-old Brentwood man and a 28-year-old Vallejo man, died at the scene.

The condition of the surviving victims has not been made known.

Oakley police are currently conducting an investigation and expect "a clearer picture of everything that occurred once all evidence has been examined."
