Crew have contained a wildfire which burned about seven and a half acres within the footprint of last year's CZU Lightning Complex fire.
Officials are calling it “the Grade Fire” and it blazed near China Grade Road and the North Butano Truck Trail, northwest of Border Creek.
Crews responded to smoke reported in the area around 9:30 a.m. They sent a Battalion Chief, two engines, two crews, and a water tender to the scene.
CAL FIRE CZU tweeted at 12:34 p.m. that the fire had been contained and crews are mopping up.
CAL FIRE spokeswoman Cecile Juliette told the San Francisco Chronicle that the fire could potentially be beneficial for the area by burning some of the vegetation on the ground so that less could catch on fire later in the year.
The cause of the fire is not known.
