SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – Firefighters on Tuesday afternoon battled back a three-alarm grass fire in Faifield that briefly stopped traffic in both directions along Highway 12.

Firefighters tweeted about the fire, which started at Highway 12 and Beck Avenue in Fairfield, shortly before 1 p.m.
Highway 12 was closed in both directions between Pennsylvania Avenue and Beck Avenue for just over an hour. At least one crash was reported in the area and other nearby drivers were temporarily rerouted, Fairfield police said.
PG&E remained at the scene "assessing the extent of any damage or threat to power disruption."
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
