
Police are searching for the suspect who allegedly assaulted a participant at a pro-recall rally in San Rafael on Sunday afternoon, causing the victim to reportedly suffer serious injuries.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:20 p.m. during a rally at the pedestrian crossing over the U.S. 101 freeway, according to San Rafael police.
Multiple participants were gathered at the event to support the recall effort against Gov. Gavin Newsom when a man walked onto the crossing and began cutting down their banners with a knife.
One of the male protestors confronted the suspect and an argument ensued. The suspect allegedly punched the victim several times, causing him to fall to the ground.
Following the assault, the suspect fled and officers have not been able to locate him since. He’s believed to have left in a vehicle.
The victim was transported to a local hospital and treated for his injuries. KGO reported the victim suffered a skull fracture and broken jaw.
An investigation is ongoing.
Police described the suspect as a "25 to 35-year-old white male adult, 5 foot 11-inches to 6 foot tall," weighing "180 to 190 pounds," with "shoulder-length curly red/blond hair." He was "wearing a light-colored – possibly blue or green shirt, blue jeans, and blue baseball hat" during the altercation, authorities said.
The suspect faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon and assault resulting in great bodily injury.
