Two dogs were rescued from a house fire in Rohnert Park on Christmas after an unattended candle caught flame.
The homeowners had stepped out during the holiday evening, but a candle was left lit in their kitchen surrounded by a Christmas wreath, officials reported.

A vigilant neighbor reported the blaze at around 7:50 p.m. in the 500 block of Loma Verde Ln. in Las Casitas Park. A patrol officer arrived within three minutes of the call and spotted smoke coming from the mobile home and a small fire on the kitchen table.
Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety Fire extinguished the blaze and rescued two dogs trapped inside.
Due to the quick action of the neighbor and fire crews, the fire was confined to the kitchen table and a nearby wall, with heavy smoke damage to the home. Fire officials warned that holiday decorations and candles are often the cause of fire when left unattended.
