Driver arrested after teen passenger dies in San Francisco street racing crash

A driver has been arrested for street racing in South San Francisco that caused a crash that killed the teen passenger, police said Friday.

The South San Francisco Police Department reported to the intersection near Hillside Boulevard and Linden Street around 8 p.m. on Tuesday to investigate the car crash.

Officers said two cars were racing westbound on Hillside Boulevard when one vehicle lost control and hit a wall and a tree. The 15-year-old passenger died from the collision and the adult driver was left with major injuries.

The driver was arrested and booked at the San Mateo County Jail for Vehicular Manslaughter and Negligence, police reported.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding the fatal crash is asked to contact the South San Francisco Police Department at (650) 877-8900.
