A driver in an older Lexus drove straight through a crowd of cyclists Friday night, hitting at least one person, according to reporting by KTVU.

The incident took place at Alcatraz Avenue and Shattuck while the group was celebrating their monthly East Bay Bike Party, according to the station.

People gather every month to ride around the city together in festive gear with music, in a normally high-spirited event.

The driver has not yet been identified.

The Oakland Police Department did not respond to KCBS Radio’s request for comment at the time of publication.
