Following the 2020 Presidential Election, worries of ballot fraud with mail-in voting permeated the election space. Voting by mail is an easier option for many Americans, but some voters wonder what happens if ballots are stolen or delivered to the wrong address.
Election officials have been forced to defend mail-in voting since California voters began receiving their ballots by mail two years ago.
"Once that envelope comes to us, we have to validate the signature, we have all of our registered voters' signatures on file," Tim Dupuis, Alameda County's Registrar of Voters, told KCBS Radio. He said that if the signatures and addresses don't match, the ballot isn’t counted.
This year, the Alameda County's Official Elections Site is broadcasting a live video feed of the ballot counting process to alleviate lingering worries and promote transparency.
"We want everybody who is voting to have the full confidence that their vote is being counted, so they can see it live, they can see exactly what we're doing on election day and all the way through certification," Dupuis explained.
The video feed is available at ACVote.org.
