A grand jury in east Texas has indicted entertainment mogul Netflix over the controversial film, "Cuties."
The controversial French film is about pre-teen girls in a dance group.
The grand jury in Tyler County, Texas returned indictments against Netflix on charges the movie promotes lewd visual material depicting a child.
The indictment applies to Netflix only and not its executives, and the film has no ties to Texas.
By streaming "Cuties," Netflix allegedly promoted the lewd exhibition of the genitals or pubic area of a clothed or partially clothed child younger than 18, appealing to the prurient interest in sex, according to TMZ.
Many viewers and lawmakers have objected to "Cuties," claiming it sexualizes young girls and exploits child actors.
The film is about a group of pre-teen girls who form a dance squad and practice moves they see in music videos. At one point, they even dress in revealing outfits and carry themselves like adults.
The film's creators have said they intended the film to be a critique of the hyper-sexualization of kids.
