A motorcyclist has died after passing a fire engine on Highway 128.
The motorcyclist was heading east on the freeway near Tahja Rd. at 12:30 p.m. Friday, between Geyserville and Calistoga, when he attempted to pass a slower-moving Calistoga Fire Department engine.
Officials say the biker approached a curve too fast and ran off the road into a ditch. He lost control of his vehicle and was subsequently ejected from the bike.
The firefighters from the Calistoga crew stopped to help the motorcyclist, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s identity has not been released.
