Evacuations ordered as Willow Fire burns in Los Padres National Forest

Monterey County officials ordered evacuations Friday due to a wildfire burning in Los Padres National Forest.

So far, the Willow Fire has scorched 750 acres in the Ventana Wilderness, northwest of the Arroyo Seco Recreation Area, forest officials said.

At about noon, the Monterey County Sheriff's Office issued an evacuation order for Tassajara Road northwest to China Camp Campground in the Los Padres National Forest. That includes tributary Forest Routes and the Tassajara Zen Center.

The sheriff also issued evacuation warnings for Tassajara Road from China Camp Campground in the Los Padres National Forest northwest to Kincannon Canyon, and Arroyo Seco Road from Millers Ranch at the Carmel Valley Road junction west to the Arroyo Secco Campground.

The Willow Fire started at 8:10 p.m. Thursday, according to Los Padres National Forest officials.
