A 62-year-old San Jose man accused of felony child sexual abuse is set for a plea hearing early next year.

Julio Cesar Carrasco-Diaz was arraigned last Tuesday at the San Jose Hall of Justice, a day after the San Jose Police Department arrested him for lewd and lascivious acts upon a child younger than 14 years old. Carrasco-Diaz allegedly sexually assaulted a child multiple times between 2011 and 2019 while he worked at a licensed residential daycare facility, according to police.

Police withheld the victim's age, saying only that the incidents were "recently reported." Carrasco-Diaz worked at a facility on the 1300 block of McGinness Avenue, and police said they believed there could have been other victims at the daycare.

Carrasco-Diaz will enter a plea on Jan. 5, 2022 at 9 a.m., according to court records. Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Robert Hawk will preside over the case.

Members of the public with information about Carrasco-Diaz, in this case or others, can call Det. Hahn of the San Jose Police Department's sexual assault investigations unit at 408-537-1394.
